Once again it seems that one of the world’s leading mining companies – despite claiming to uphold the rule of law and protection of democracy – is putting profits before ethics. Following a “palace” coup last month, the new self-appointed, right wing, regime is reported to have resumed negotiations with Rio Tinto over construction of a US$4 billion aluminium smelter.
