Ghana’s National Coalition on Mining (NCOM) held its annual forum on October 3, 2012 at New Abirim in the country’s eastern region. New Abirim is host to Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, one of four large-scale mining companies operating open-pit gold mines in the last vestiges of Ghana’s forest reserves.
