This week activists from Colombia, Mongolia, South Africa and the USA are in London with a common purpose: to draw attention to abuses being perpetrated in their countries by Anglo American and Rio Tinto, two UK-based giant mining companies. War on Want is supporting awareness-raising activities arranged to coincide with the companies’ Annual General Meetings (AGMs). In these short videos, each of them explain how communities are being affected by the mining companies’ activities.
Don’t forget the demonstrations in support of our visitors this week:
- Rio Tinto AGM demonstration- Thursday 18 April, 10-11am, outside the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London SW1.
- Anglo American AGM demonstration- Friday 19 April, 1-2pm, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London SW1.
