Indigenous leaders lobby against FPIC process at Glencore’s Tampakan mine

Local B’laan leaders, including the son of murdered Bong Fulong [chief] Anteng Freay, have lobbied the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) not to allow a free, prior, informed consent (FPIC) process for the Tampakan project. They believe such a process cannot be free, given the ongoing violence and militarisation of the area.
