London-based Anglo American’s board is expected to approve the development of the Quellaveco copper project in southern Peru’s Moquegua region by year-end, according to Jose Fernandez-Baca, the company’s administration and finance manager in Peru. Anglo American has faced opposition from residents in Moquegua who are concerned about the use of water in the project.
