The government of the world’s poorest state (by aggregated numbers of impoverished people) has been accused of granting tax concessions to corporate enterprises amounting to 2. 4 billion rupees – around US$ 48 million – each day. We say “accused”  – but the Indian government officially describes this huge figure as “Revenue forgone (sic) under corporate income tax, excise and customs”.
