The people of Phulbari, Bangladesh, and different organizations including the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports (National Committee) observed ‘Phulbari Day’ on August 26, 2013, in Phulbari, Dhaka and around the country in remembrance of the people’s uprising against the disastrous open-pit coal-mining bid by Asia Energy (now GCM) at Phulbari in northern district Dinajpur that sparked on August 26, 2006.
