April marks the start of a crucial period for London Mining Network. As mining companies host their annual general meetings, they like to focus on the profits they are generating and on greenwashing the impact of their operations. Every year, we disrupt this narrative, confronting them with the real consequences of their mines: pollution, water scarcity, displacement, irreversible damage to fragile ecosystems and health problems caused by contamination.
This year we are running a fundraising campaign to support this work. For one week only, donations you make to London Mining Network via Big Give will be matched, meaning your generosity will make double the difference! We need our friends and supporters to collectively donate £2000 to secure a total match funded pot of £4000.
Amplifying the voices of communities at London AGMs is a key pillar of our work. It enables people to speak directly to the boards of the companies that prefer to disregard their concerns. And it allows us to build international solidarity between communities here, where the companies house their profits, and those forced to live on the frontlines of their operations. With your support, we can keep up the fight to get justice for mining-affected communities.
The campaign will run from midday on 22 April to midday on 29 April.

Why support London Mining Network?
As governments seek to secure ‘critical minerals’ in the name of national security and the green transition, communities affected by mining are being left out of the conversation. Extracting minerals such as copper, nickel and lithium is devastating people’s lands and livelihoods, contaminating the water they drink and the soil that sustains local agriculture. Communities are speaking out about these injustices, but we need to amplify their voices here and hold London-linked mining companies to account for these harms.
LMN is the only organisation dedicated to holding London’s mining and metals ecosystem accountable to the communities impacted by their decisions. At a time of worsening climate crisis, we cannot let one of its major culprits get away with profiting from ongoing destruction. With your support, we can fight to get justice for mining-affected communities. We can challenge industry narratives and green capitalist solutions centred on ever-expanding mining. And we can make the case for reducing demand for minerals to protect people and the planet.
We’re a small team with a global impact. Every donation helps to sustain our work in solidarity with mining-affected communities. And in April, your generosity will make double the difference!
