In September 2009, a 9-year old boy from Advalpal village in Goa successfully took Vedanta to court, accusing its iron ore subsidiary, Sesa Goa, of illegally dumping wahttps://londonminingnetwork.org/wp-admin/post-new.phpstes above his village, thus causing major flood destruction during recent heavy rains. (See http://www.minesandcommunities.org/article.php?a=9494). Last week, Sesa Goa was called to the Bombay High Court to state how (not whether) it would remove the offending wastes. But the company reportedly claims that, in doing so, it would only cause further land slides and “filthy water” running into Advalpal.
