The National Advocacy Coalition on the Extractives (NACE) is calling on the President and Parliament of Sierra Leone to demand a review of the mining agreement signed between the Government and African Minerals Limited, listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM).
NACE has been provided with a copy of this agreement and their analysis shows that it contains over 10 clauses that contradict existing Sierra Leonean legislation such as the Income Tax Act 2000 and the Mines and Minerals Act 2009.
This agreement is the second that has appeared since the Mines and Minerals Act was enacted last December. It follows the London Mining Agreement, which also contains numerous clauses that contradict legislation.
