The Australian government wrapped up four months of consultation with miners on a planned tax on profits, with Resources Minister Martin Ferguson calling them “constructive” after reports of friction over royalty payments.
But the government would not change key details of the Minerals Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) from the deal struck in July with London-listed global miners BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Xstrata, he said.
