The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (to which the UK government contributes)  is “lending excessively to polluting fossil fuel projects, especially coal, undermining its own sustainable energy strategy”. That’s the claim made earlier this month  by international NGO, Bankwatch. Although the organisation acknowledges EBRD has been funding “renewables”, it claims that some of these projects “had actually extended the working life of potentially polluting developments such as coal mines”.
