Vote to Condemn Rio Tinto as Olympics Medals Provider
Affiliates of the ICEM, IMF, and ITGLWF are uniting in action around the world in support of the United Steelworkers (USW) campaign to push Rio Tinto “Off the Podium”. Scores of affiliates are writing to and taking action at the national representatives of the International Olympics Committee in their home countries. Now they are calling on members to support the Greenwash Gold 2012 Campaign and vote Rio Tinto for worst Olympic corporate sponsor.

I bet you didn’t know that behind the glory of the bronze, silver and gold is a company that contaminates the environment with its mining activities, uts its employees lives a risk and locked-out 780 USW members in Alma, Quebec, threatening to cut wages, eliminate benefits and convert secure jobs into contract jobs.

U.S. Workers Mining Metal for Olympic Medals Also Want Rio Tinto “Off the Podium”
Members of the United Steelworkers (USW) employed in the United States who mine the metal used in Olympic medals are expressing their solidarity with locked-out Quebec workers. USW Local 392 wants Rio Tinto “Off the Podium” for this summer’s London 2012 Olympics.
