The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is expanding its campaign against a proposed Alaskan mine that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says would damage a thriving sockeye salmon population. The NRDC launched a six-figure advertising effort Monday that features Bristol Bay, Alaska, residents who oppose the proposed Pebble Mine.
The Pebble Mine project is controlled 50% by Anglo American and 50% by Canadian company Northern Dynasty, in which Rio Tinto has a minority stake.
