While flying picketers swooped on the offices of mining multinationals Anglo American, BHP Billiton and Glencore Xstrata in London on 27 August, protesters in Boston, Massachusetts, picketed the Colombian Consulate at 31 St James Avenue, in support of the villagers of Roche, who face eviction to make way for the expansion of the massive Cerrejon opencast coal mine, jointly owned by the three London-listed companies.
The protest was organized by Colombia Vive, an all-volunteer organization that supports efforts for peace, human rights, and social justice in Colombia.
Colombia Vive condemns all forms of oppression and does not support any of the armed actors in the Colombian conflict.
