Rio Tinto’s subsidiary Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) has announced “the Ranger 3 Deeps project will not proceed to Final Feasibility Study in the current operating environment”. This is not that surprising given Rio Tinto’s previously stated lack of enthusiasm for the proposed expansion (given lower uranium prices & uncertainty around the expiry of the lease).
This follows a union protest with a thousand participants against the layoffs.
