About LMN

LMN is a network of 23 diverse organisations and 9 associate member groups all concerned about human rights, social justice, and the ecological integrity of the planet, particularly the negative impacts of London-linked mining companies on communities and ecosystems around the world. All groups are united around LMN’s Statement of Purpose.

About the role

Are you interested in supporting and working in solidarity with communities affected by UK based mining companies and UK finance? Want to lead and inspire a dynamic and growing organisation holding the powerful to account? LMN has been undergoing a period of growth and needs a coordinator who can take the organisation to the next level.

As the Coordinator of LMN, you will be responsible for providing effective and strategic leadership to ensure the smooth running of LMN, working towards the shared objective of holding London-based mining companies to account. You will have a key role to play in strengthening and developing networks of solidarity with mine-affected communities and lead on the development of a vision for LMN.

About you

The ideal candidate will be committed and well-organised, with experience of leading and organising small campaign groups and/or charities.

A natural communicator with excellent written and oral skills, you’ll be experienced in working with grassroots communities or mining related organisations and managing differentials of power and privilege. On a personal level, you’ll be an adept problem solver capable of working under pressure, managing a small team, and prioritising your own workload. Most importantly, you’ll be a person passionate about social and climate justice issues in the UK and in the Global South and building strong networks of solidarity.

This will be a position that you can truly make your own, in a field of work that is becoming increasingly relevant in relation to both climate change and global resource justice.

Application process

LMN accepts applications from candidates all over the world regardless of background, ethnicity or religion and we are ardent proponents of equality and diversity. However, due to Brexit and the size of our organisation, we are unable to offer sponsorships to any candidates.  You may still apply but if you do not have a right to work in the United Kingdom, you are unlikely to progress past the interview stage.

To apply for this role, please send a CV and cover letter of up to two pages outlining why you are interested to apply and a good fit for the role to contact@londonminingnetwork.org by midnight UK time on 14th July 2024.

We plan to hold interviews on week of 15th July (currently 18th or 19th July). If possible, interviews will be in person in the LMN office, but otherwise online via an internet conference call. Please tell us if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make to assist you if you are called for interview.
