Bretton Woods Project last week took issue with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The UK-based NGO strongly criticised the World Bank’s private lending arm over its backing for six mining projects, located in South Africa, Peru, Colombia, Mongolia and Guinea. Of these mines, four are controlled by British companies – Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Lonmin.
