It was a “scam and a half”. Last year, a hundred Indian companies were revealed to have profited by US$210 billion from gaining control of domestic coal deposits, without their being offered for tender. Now, renowned Delhi-based research journalist, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, has exposed the scandal in a documentary film. (Among the companies named in last year’s government investigation was UK-listed Vedanta Resources.)
