Union, Contract Workers Continue Fight for Work Rights at Cerrejón in Colombia

The struggle continues for trade union rights for contract workers at Colombia’s vast mining complex, Carbones del Cerrejón. ICEM mining affiliate Sintracarbón has been fighting to organize the contract workers at the mine. ICEM is the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers’ Unions. Carbones del Cerrejon is owned by London-listed Anglo American, BHP Billiton and Xstrata.
